Anybody seen/have a Taylor like this one?

I have a 2005 Taylor 710E with the ES (Englemann/Indian Rosewood). I haven't ever seen another one like it nor is it in any of the literature. I am wondering if anyone else has one or seen one. I am thinking it was some kind of special order that someone backed out of. I bought it new, first owner.

Anyone out there? The 710 usually has the cut. Anyone know anything about 700 series without the cut?

I see that one has electronics... I'm pretty sure they only put electronics in the cutaways normally unless you special order them.

The 700s are usually made with western red cedar right? I think I have seen them with spruce though... Don't know if it was Englemann or not

Taylor will make them either way....but it is considered a special order if you want the spruce. They'll add the ES system to any of their steel-string model guitars upon request....and the extra funds.

I have seen a few going back quite a few years. All were non-cutaway, all had Engleman tops but none had factory installed electronics.

The 700 comes with Englemann Spruce or Cedar. I think only the 714 has the cedar though. IIRC the "10's" have too much tension for the dreadnought with Medium gauge strings so they have to use the stronger Spruce. The 700 series is the no frills version of the 900. Same tone woods, just not as much bling or highly figured woods.

I was thinking this might have been a special order because it did have the ES installed, I didn't pay an upgrade charge though, bought it out of a stores inventory.
