I am gassing for one of these badly. Does it work well for gigs where you have to switch between all three sounds? How's the loop? I want to replace my Mesa MKIV with it. Will it do it? I tried one out at the LA Amp show, but I would like to hear about real life gig situations. I plan to use a Port City 2x12 wave cab with a EMI CR and ST in it if I do end up pulling the trigger. I mostly play blues/jazz/rock fusion stuff.

The loop works really well and can be used in either series or parallel mode. The three channels cover alot of bases and not only are they switchable in real time, but there is seperate gain boost and mid boost on the dedicated clean channel. That makes for a ton of versatility.

I had a TDS, and I thought the tones you could get were marvelous, except a real "stinging" or "biting" lead tone was not really there, and needed a pedal. Gigging in a classic rock band, I found that there were not enough tones immediately available - not that it's the TDS's fault, really any amp that is not MIDI programmable for on the fly switching is not up to snuff if you need a wide variety of tones. I give the TDS an A+ and Andy Fuchs an A++ in customer service, but I moved on, strictly because of the need of 20+ tones a set..........

Thanks for your input. Thankfully, I only need about 6 tones total for what I do. Even with my MKIV that's all I use. I don't play in a cover band, but I can understand what you would need to do it. I built my own midi controller to interface with my MKIV, but RJR makes a very nice MIDI switching system for both the TDS and the MKIV so that will work for me. The tones I use are:
1. Clean with some reverb and delay
2. Clean with reverb, chorus, a little phasing and delay
3. Straight SRV Crunch
4. SRV Crunch with a little reverb and delay
5. Straight singing lead
6. Singing lead with a little reverb and delay

It seems with the Mid boost on the TDS I'll have a few more tones I can explore and maybe use.......

Another cool feature of the TDS are the internal trim pots (Andy F was very helpful in locating these and explaining what they do) that allow you to adjust gain for the second and third channels, really lets you find the tone you want. For what you are looking for, sounds like a great fit - SRV is in there!!!!

Got it and all I can say is that this is the tone I have been wanting for a long time. This amp is the perfect compliment to the Red Iron T-REX in my rig which is voiced totally different.......Thanks all for your comments

Thanks. Wish I could tell you what magazine will be publishing a rave TDS review in their NAMM edition, but then I'd have to kill you. :)

Enjoy it, and thanks for the kind words.
