I've been a member here for a few months and really enjoy checking out what's going on musically and gear wise with all of you. It's really about time I introduce myself.
I help run one of the last really cool, small town guitar shops left in the Philly area. We are, like so many independent stores, struggling to hold on to our Gibson dealership. We are also home to some of the finest guitar and amp lines out there including Acoustic guitars by Bourgeois, Taylor and Gibson and others. Electric Guitars and Basses by Gibson, PRS, G&L, Gretsch, Music Man, Lakland and more. Amps by Mesa, Victoria, Carr, Vox and Marshall.
This week is huge for us as we welcome the fabulous acoustic guitars of Santa Cruz and the fine electric instruments of Tom Anderson Guitarworks to the store. Needless to say we're excited. I'll be posting down in the dealer area with news and inventory. I hope you'll check us out.
As for my personal info. My current guitar is an '89 Les Paul Standard Goldtop, originally equipped with P-100s. It is currently outfitted with a pair of Fralin P-90s (5% under neck and 10%over bridge), Tone Pros locking studs with Gibson Aluminum tailpiece and Tone Pros Upgrade Tuners. My amp is a 1965 Super Reverb slightly modified for more mids and so it overdrives earlier. Original speakers removed and put away. Kendrick Black frame 10s. I also have a '66 Princeton Reverb.
My acoustic was built by Gibson for me a little while ago. It's a Southern Jumbo with an Adirondack top and early fifties cosmetics.
I am a Blues and Roots Rock and Roll fan. Played for a number of years in a Jump Blues Band. Been off for the last couple of years. I've got a new outfit just about ready to go.
Thanks for indulging me. I know that's a lot longer than most intros.

Hey Dave-
Welcome to TGP!
West Chester Music is indeed a very cool store! I encourage anyone in the area to check it out.
Does Scott still own it? I've known him since high school.

Hey Dave,
Don't know if you saw my response to your post on the "West Coast" thread last month..........but if not, welcome again.
Glad to see you're playing again. What's the band and music? You didn't get rid of that Epi, did you?
cheers,
- jim

Hey Man (men?) Thanks for the warm reception. I just noticed I made the transition from new member to member.
Scottl, stop in to "annoy" us anytime
Mr Kaplowitz, As I told you when you bought it, I believe that to be the best Les Paul I ever played. Glad you dig it. Let's get together and do Pica's sometime...and Happy Birthday.
Meanmud, Let me know when you're going to stop by next and I'll bring that 336 in for you to check out. Nice meeting you.
Scott Peterson, Thanks. Good to be here.
Gearitis, Thanks for the kind words about the store and yes, Scott does still own it. I doubt he would recognize you by "Gearitis" so if you'd like me to say "hey " drop me a line with your name and I'll pass the greetings on.
Hipkitty, A good friend and our old guitar tech is now the man down at Corner Music in Nashville. His name is Joe Hincliffe (sp?) Not only an awesome tech but a mighty player as well.
MikeB_18, I think I hear a 355 calling you.
Pauldogx, I bought my Goldtop from the store back in '89, long before I worked there.
Just found out we are the last independent Gibson dealer left in the Philly area. Looks like that includes much, if not all of South Jersey as well. TGPers in our area please stop by and say hello.
Thanks again for the warm welcome.

I've got a real good one hangin' right in front of me. Didn't you try the Cherry 335 plain top when you were in?

Yeah - it wasn't in a good condition to really test; Remember the humidity that day - in addition, your AC was out:jo Just didn't feel like loosening the truss rod (lazy). Also - that was the first time I played a gibson in years; wow, the 24 3/4 scale is whacky:NUTS Been big-eyeing the Historics:drool, but they're like any other guitar --- hit or miss:messedup
I'll be in - don't you have a Big Gibson Obligated Order to place soon????

EDIT:
Ahhh......never mind. Don't know why I even bother.
But I can't help trying to be a nice guy.....so.....you should come out and jam sometime, man. I'm sure the guys would be glad to have you sit in for a couple songs........plus I'd be curious what you think....the band really has matured and tightened up. Everyone says how great we're sounding, these days. You'd be proud!
cheers,
Jim

Hi Dave,
I'm in your store about once a week kicking tires and salivating. You had a SWEET '59 Historic a little while back, and the one Bourgeois dread I played recently was a CANNON!
Congrats on Santa Cruz and Anderson . . . guess I'll be in again soon to drool some more.
