Deluxe.... I've never found another amp that sounds like my Deluxe.. That I traded off earlier this year and miss tremendously. Twins are almost generic sounding to me, but the 6v6 of the Deluxe is a beautiful thing.... IMO

+1 on the deluxe, Tweed or BF, and 99% of silverfaces as well. the Reissue is kind of anemic sounding to my ears, but a few tweaks and it's a beauty!

My tech has a mid 60's Deluxe that sounds soooooo killer!!

And although, it might not be loud enough for gigs I have a Super Champ w/ the factory EV speaker that just rocks!

I've had a bunch of BF Fenders. A Twin, Supers, Pro Reverbs, Vibrolux Reverbs, Bandmasters, Bassmans. But my non reverb Deluxes are the best. I have three, one in a head box that I drive various cabs with. My favorite cab being a 1X12 Marshall 1933. I run it on about 6 or 7 and hit it with an either an Eternity, original TS-808, or SubDecay Stupid Box along with a Klon for boost. Killer!

There's no "best" of anything, tonally. It depends on what YOU like, your guitar, pickups, speakers, etc. etc.

Thats what I was asking....what do YOU like. Its just your opinion.

For what style of music? How loud is the drummer? How big is the room? ;)

It's hard to beat ANY properly maintained Vintage Fender Tube Amp. Tweed, Brownface, Blackface, most sound great depending on the application. My personal favorites are:

Tweed Bandmaster
Blackface Vibrolux Reverb

for great chime and sweetness ....my little old '68 Princeton Reverb...with NOS tubes from Mike K. and a Celestion Blue in it !!

.....but I'd love to try a Blackface Bassman or a Dual Showman Reverb into a 1x15 when I want really BIG FAT tones.......

fender amps all basicially sound the same, the circuit is basically the same for most of them, just different tubes, power output.

I recently sold off my 66 Vibrolux Reverb, yeah it had one incredible tone, but I wanted many incredible tones.

Me too.

That's why I have a '66 Deluxe Reverb, '66 Vibrolux Reverb, '65 Super Reverb and a Fractal Audio Axe FX Ultra on order...why not have it all!

+1 on blonde bassmans. Super warm tone. Can't go wrong with a BFDR for cleans, and great reverb though.

I'll second the Vibrolux Reverb. In fact, all the blackface amps are magic. And the Tweeds.

The absolute best single Fender amps I heard were two different Deluxe Reverbs, a Princeton Reverb, and a Vibrolux Reverb...

also, I'll add a couple sleepers... the TV Front Tweed Deluxe (IMHO a better amp than the later narrow panels everyone goes after), the tweed Vibrolux (absolute tone monster, hugely underrated), and the Brownface Princeton (almost same exact amp as the Tweed Vibrolux, killer trem, great amp).

I don't know what qualifies as vintage. Pre 1980? Tweed?

SF and BF sound similar to me (compared to tweed).

My favorite has always been a Twin Reverb. It sounds like the standard Fender tone to me.
