I was referred to TGP from a guy I bought a pedal from.
I remember someone on a thread on another forum I visit saying along the lines of "talent is naturally occurring and skill is something that you learn". I'd say I have the skill of playing guitar. I've been playing guitar for 14 years, but have never had the discipline to learn lead guitar.
I've been going through a gear change over the course of the last year, with the only original thing I own being an 88 MIJ Strat that isn't even 100% original anymore.
here's the family:
http://www.coldthewinter.com/family.jpg
1) '92 MIM Fender tele with a fishman VT powerbridge, rio grande halfbreed in neck, and muy grande in the bridge.
2) '95 MIM Fender P-Bass. Aside from the black chrome knobs I added, this is stock.
3) Lotus Mini Bass. Surprisingly, this sounds pretty good. The E string rattles a little bit, but it still sounds good. It's a little brighter than the P-Bass.
4) '00 MIM Fender Tele. I did notice that the neck pickup is routed for a humbucker, so a coil split might be in the near future. This one belongs to my fiancée.
5) '01 Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition (with arched top). Has some Gibson Deluxe tuners off of an SG.
6) '88 MIJ Standard Fender Strat. I recently replaced the pickups with some Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups. This one needs to be rewired.
7) Squier '51
8) 1981 "Lawsuit" Takamine F360S with Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker.
Not Pictured:
- Epiphone FT-165 Bard 12. From the mid 70s.
- Fender DC20CE NAT acoustic/electric. For a $300-400 price range Fender laminate, it's matured well. It blew the socks off a Breedlove Atlas model I recently bought and sold. But, the Takamine is a better guitar, so this sits in the closet for now.
Amps:
- Marshall JTM-60 3x10" Tube amp. I recently replaced the OT and it works great now.
- Vox Valvetronix AD30VT
- Crate GT-80 hybrid tube/solid state. This is actually a really great amp when it works. You can select to use the tube preamp or solid state. Obviously, it's not a full tube amp, but it does have three tubes for the preamp, so it definitely colors it more tubelike.
- Peavey MicroBass
Effects:
Ross Phaser (missing a knob cover)
Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo
Danelectro Dan-Echo
Boss TU-2
Boss OD-20
Korg Toneworks AX3G (great for line in, but a pain in the ass to program).
Line 6 Modulation Modeler that a ex friend won't give back
Hopefully, I can contribute something more around here than necroing old topics in my excitement to find out what other people have to say about my recent purchases.
