Hey guys,
the bass player in my band is trying to scale down his live rig.
He wants to try to run a Sansamp Bass Driver into a power amp, out to his 4x10 cab.
Can anyone please reccomend a great small, portable bass head, or just a straight up power amp that would work well with a preamp or bass driver?
Thanks so much.

Both Eden and MarkBass make some pretty 'compact' power these days.

The QSC PLX line is worth the extra bucks for the tradeoff in lbs. I think Crown and Stewart have similar lines, however, when I used to poke around pro installations, they were always QSC.

Ok, Q: so when you have a bass rack setup (preamp into poweramp) are there specialized bass power amps, or can you just use a powerful, clean PA type power amp?

Some are meant for PA's, some are meant for movie theatres.

Bryston Power Amps!
A-Design REDDI D/I
Maybe an Ampex B-15 RI
Emery Sound Bassbaby
65 Amps is also now building a 100 watt bass rig.
The Reeves new Bass 225 looks very interesting too.

I'm using a markbass. It's about 3x louder than it's rating and sounds fabulous.

I'm running a Sansamp RBI into a PLX 1202 and Aggie 112 cabs. It's a great lightweight setup.
