Hello All!
I have been a member for a while now and I think it is time for an introduction. I am probably one of the few gear-obsessed women on this forum. The obsession began with the purchase of my first Barber pedal and i don't think it will end anytime too soon.
I am a college student, majoring in English(as of now) and I have a deep love and appreciation of music and the guitar. I have been playing for 5 years. I would say that I have somewhat of a natural ability, but I definitely do not devote enough of my time to my guitar playing. It is a goal of mine to be in a band(my boyfriend and I have been discussing the possibility of starting a project in the near future.) I have done some very rough recordings with my boyfriend and his friend. The group is called Platinum Green and it is what we classify as "psychedelic meditation" music. I play mostly guitar in the recordings but also play keyboards and hand drums on occasion. I will hopefully be getting around to post some of the recordings on soundclick or something similar. The basic sound consists of keyboards, bass, guitar, and hand percussion but a couple of the songs feature, the Kalimba, Bamboo flute, and ocarina.
It seems that today a lot of music is produced purely for profit and that the so called "artists" are only a product made to be packaged and sold. I enjoy music that is full of emotion and soul.
My main musical influences/preference are rock groups such as Jefferson Airplane,Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, and more modern groups like The Mars Volta, Alice in Chains, Tool and some others that are escaping my memory. I have also developed an appreciation of jazz after taking a Jazz History course in college. I love listening to Bitches Brew late at night when I can't sleep, it is AMAZING.
