View Full Version : Boomerang III Speculation

Hey guys, I've been unable to find much on the boards about this upcoming release.
It looks like a great redesign, and it's relatively small for what it does, just an inch wider than my deluxe memory man (so it will fit on my board!).
The site says its slotted for release in December and the MSRP will be $559. Anyone willing to speculate on what you'll actually have to pay to get one? I know you could get ahold of a BPS+ for between $350 and $450. Do you think there will be similar price cuts from distributors, or will it stay pretty close to MSRP?
Either way, it looks like it'll be cool.

When the first ship was scheduled for August, many of the online retailers (e.g. Musicians Friend) had the new Boomerang listed in the $400-450 range. A December release would be great but I'm not optimistic; the companion delay/chorus pedal was announced in August and is still not available. FWIW, I'm going to pick up a Boss RC-2 at the local Guiter Center today to tide me over until the Boomerang III is available.

I'm actually planning on the same, RC-2 for now, Boomerang III whenever it comes out and I decide I want to step up to it.

Having and loving the Rang 2 for years, I eagerly anticipated the arrival of the new model. It was originally going to be a long time ago. I waited and waited and gave up and got an RC2, which I love. Yes, it's more limited, but it gets the job done as a jamming partner, has some nice rhythm accompaniment, has a wonderful footprint, and will run on batteries. Elegant!

I was just at Rudy's Music in NY and they had one. Didn't get a chance to play it, but it looked sweet.

I was thinking of getting two for my rig linked togeter, but now I'm thinking of getting ableton live and a many I/O-packing interface to do live sequencing...

"there will be no MIDI or USB connectivity, and no permanent storage of loops."
"does it have a card reader?"

The boomerang is geared specifically toward live real-time use either on the stage or as a practice tool.
Not that MIDI wouldn't be useful for syncing with other sampling units (for backing tracks for solo performers, etc), but it's not exactly a standard feature.

hopefully they at least upgraded the sound quality from the previous versions.
