Hi, everybody. I too am struck with the disease of gear-itis. There is no cure - not even "more cowbell" will work. Anyway...
I live in Burlington, VT (originally from NYC area) and play guitar in a local cover/wedding band called the Dave Grippo Funk Band. Grippo is an alto sax player - he's been on some Phish recordings and he is also a member of the Trey Anastasio band. Saying that we're a "wedding/cover" band doesn't do us justice, because the talent in this band is top-notch IMHO. We do mostly funk/r&b - James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Sly, etc. Check out grippofunkband.com for some samples (although they are 6-7 yrs old - we're doing a new studio demo next month).
Check out my myspace page for other stuff I've done. www.myspace/davediamondmusic.com
There's some different stuff on there. A couple of tracks from my former Hip-hop/d&b project and a couple tracks of quasi-metal that i did in my home studio with a fantastic drummer friend of mine. Even though I play mostly funk/jazz/r&b I'm a metal (mostly Tool and early Metallica/Megadeth), hip-hop (Roots/Tribe/anything with a band or real music in it), and blues fan. Also love the Band, Crowes, Stones, Beatles, Wilco, Zep, Zappa, etc. Check out Dr. Dog - great new band.

Ok, the good part:
Gear:
Guitars in order of what gets played most:
-'94 Am Std Strat with Fralin SP 42's and a Joe Barden S-Deluxe Bridge pup.
-mid-90's American strat (can't figure out which model) i think there's Tex Specials in there - they sound nice and big. Belongs to a friend of mine, but I think he forgot that I've had it for over 2 years.
-Brian Moore i8.13 - versatile w/ coil taps, piezo and fun to use with my Roland GR synth unit
-Heritage 555 w/ SD JB pickups. Heritage makes great guitars right here in the USA.
-late 90's mexi Tele. Got it on ebay a few yrs ago. Original owner put in a neck humbucker (w/ coil tap), middle single coil (with on/off switch), and lil' 59 in the bridge spot. Gonna change that to a single coil ASAP.
-2004 Am Deluxe Strat. Plays great, but I really need to ditch the SCN pickups. They are not for me.
- Heritage Eagle - hollowbody jazz box with flatwounds and floating pup. Beautiful, but haven't touched it in about a year.

Amps:
-1974 Fender SF Twin w/ Jensen P12N and Weber Blue. This was modded by Bill Carruth (genius). Ch1 is a spin on the blackface mod and ch 2 is a Marshall-style OD channel. Hot bias, but not cathode (yet). Also put in a pentode/triode switch and a fan. Blasphemy you say? Works for me...
-1972 Fender Deluxe w/ Tone Tubby Alnico. Also blackface-modded by Bill C, but no OD channel on this one. Plug in a strat, turn volume up past 6-7...like butter.
- Mesa/Boogie Nomad 45 2X12. Nice and complimentary when used in stereo with a Fender. Pretty versatile on it's own w/ 3 channels from clean to mean. Celestions came stock w/ the amp. Considering trading up to a more "boutique" EL-84 like Z, Badger, Bad Cat, etc.

FX:
Pedaltrain Jr. board
T-Rex Fuel Tank mounted underneath - cool slutty blue glow
Boss tuner>Vox wah>Boss phaser (i know, i'll get somthing sluttier)>Diamond comp (it's yellow!)>Fulltone OCD>Xotic RC Booster
That's it for now. I really want a univibe and am considering putting a volume pedal at the end of the chain. There's always something...

Home studio:
Apple G5 dual 2.3mhz
Pro Tools LE 7.X
digi 002 with Black Lion mod
Presonus Digimax LT
Grace 801
various "cheap but good" mics
I want a 500 rack and various mic pres soooo bad, but I make more $$ playing guitar, so I can't justify those purchases. Recording gear is ridiculously expensive. Sigh.

Anyway, very happy to be here and sharing info with like minded gear-addicts. My girlfriend hates you all. :BEER

Hi Subendo!

I lived in (South) Burlington for a year when I was a kid. It holds a special place in my gear history and my heart, because that's where I got my first electric guitar and amp. Both bore the "Holiday" brand, which means the guitar was a Harmony and I have no idea what the amp was. I wish I still had both of them.

I've done some work assignments in Burlington and always ended up bringing home some Magic Hat beer (growlers and bottles). Burlington is a really nice small city. There's a lot of places to eat but I wish I could've checked out more nightlife. I know Trey Anastasio and friends were doing a gig at the theater venue a few days after I finished working. I would've checked that out if I was in town. Oh Yeah - nice ski resorts, I made it to Stowe last time I was there!

Welcome to TGP !

Welcome Subendo!

I live near Montpelier but I've seen Grippo a few times (Red Square). What a fantastic band! Tops in Burlington imo. Nice gear too.
