Why Light Bulbs inside the chassis of my Clubman?

There are 4 or 5 lightbulbs wired inside the chassis of my Matcheles Clubman (not the front panel Matchless Light). Are these some kind of fuse mechanism similar to what is done in PA speaker cabs to protect drivers?

Not at all.

The provide the illumination for the front panel cutouts.
Which are backed by a white semi-opaque plastic.

The Amp Nerd is correct! I have the same amp, and I took most of the bulbs out so that the Matchless logo doesn't glow so bright.

There is a lower output bulb if you can find them too.

Stock, I think the matchless amps came with the high
intensity bulbs.

In my DC 30 I put in the low intensity bulbs...helps
but not much. You can also take a sharpie and color them
black to reduce the illumination.
