Are they close, or does the Celestion just have a magic that no other speaker can match? Thanks....

I've had both speakers, the weber one I had was the 50 watt version.
The weber sounded like total crap compared to the Celestion. The Weber was ok but it lacked the warmth and depth of the Celestion.Day and night difference. In pairs the weber sounded really good.

I use the 30w silver and blue webers and to my ears the cele's are harsh in comparison.
I especially love the 30w silver bells. My fav speaker.

The Celestion Blue and Weber Blue Dog are quite different sounding.
I have compared both extensivly. - Also, the Weber comes in Ceramic and Alnico mags. I have tested the Alnico version against the Celestion Blue in at least 4 different amps.
* The Celestion Blue is louder and more effecient. It has a Low-mid Growl and High end Bite that the Weber Blue Dog does not get. If your looking for snarling tone - the Celestion Blue is the best I have heard.
* The Weber is smoother, and has a bit more mids. Basically its more polite and has less attitude. The 50 watts is a nice feature, and it does have a bit more headroom than the Celestion.
= Your mileage may vary. I have not heard a better sounding speaker than a Celestion Blue in a single 12" open backed Cab!
