I'm a new member here. I heard about this site from Guitarists.net. I'm older than dirt, and after having played the piano for some 47 years, I decided on a new challenge. So now I'm learning guitar. I started at the end of May 2007. I took some lessons, but my teacher disappeared for parts unknown and I started just teaching myself.

I had a major case of initial G.A.S. since I know I'm staying with this simply because I love playing, and have done the following damage this year to my budget (I don't want to add it up. It scares me ):

Godin Freeway Floyd (5-07)
Godin LG Signature (used 9-07)
Gibson Les Paul Studio in Swamp Ash (birthday present to me -- 10-07)
Fender HR DeVille 212 (used mint 9-07 --> great price from a close friend)
Dunlop Crybaby (7-07)
Ibanez TS9 (7-07)
Boss MD-2 (9-07)
Boss BF-3 (10-07)
Boss CS-3 (9-07)
Keeley Java Boost (9-07) <-- this guy made a believer out of me for Germanium transistors.
Boss NS-2 (10-07)
Assorted miscellaneous stuff...

Next up: Skreddy Screw Driver & a build my own pedal rack. Skreddy made me convert to germanium.

Oh, yeah, I practice 2 to 3 hrs/day. You know, you buy all this stuff you'd better know how to use it, right?

So anyone here from the Seattle area? :RoCkIn

Welcome to TGP!! I'm kinda in the reverse situation. Been playing guitar for 20+ yrs and started taking piano about 3 months ago. Bought a Yamaha P70 to learn on. It always something!

Don't bother trying to add it up..it's depressing plus it'll never stop.....sounds like you're hooked!

G'day, eh. Canuck here from over on the other side of the continent... well, perched on one of the Great Lakes.

Sounds like you have been making up for lost time... that's an avalanche of stellar guitar gear you have going there. Very nice.

Welcome to the forum!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I'm into playing classic rock, grunge, and some of the older metal (now also considered Classic Rock). Of course I'm old enough not to care if it's now 15-40 years old..... Yikes. Shudder.

My musical training? Studied classical piano privately with a prof at SF Conservatory, and had a music minor.

The idea of music theory again? I think I forgot it as soon as I graduated.

Julia if you think you blew your budget with G.A.S. already, wait til you hand here for a while.

On the positive side, there are a lot of really great people here and the gear and musical information that gets passed around can't be found anywhere else.

Welcome aboard.
