I'm originally Canadian but I've been here for quite awhile. I got my first real 6 string in the summer of '69 (really) and I've been in quite a few bands. Currently I'm in a reasonably busy wedding/function band and I generally play Telecasters thru small amps (Blues Junior at the moment) miced in to the PA.
I chose the name Tech61 since I seem to aways gravitate to the general technological level of the year I was born when it comes to guitars and amps. Not much has improved since then, IMO (although I do use Dimarzio Virtual Vintage pickups now).
Seems like a good forum, I'm looking forward to getting to know people here.

Born, raised and disillusioned in Port Colborne, Ontario (on Lake Erie).
I live in County Clare in the west of Ireland.
The only 'dirt' effect I use is a Maxon OD808 set as a low gain boost. Mostly I play clean.

Welcome to TGP! I've always enjoyed County Clare. On our last visit there we stayed for a week in Cooraclare. We used it as our home base for exploring the West. Wonderful people there as I'm sure you know! I never saw any musical instrument shops except a small shop up in Galway city that featured Squires and that sort of thing. The emporium here will serve you well in that regard.
Where are you in Clare and why there as opposed to the usual (Dublin) destination? Good choice though!

Hey from Slippery Rock Pa.. It was about a year ago that I was playing some American classics on a beat up Martin in a pub in Doolin ,on the east coast of Ireland at 1:30 am after 15 pints. A good time was had by all.....

I know Cooraclare, but we're further east nearer Shannon and Limerick.
We came here 15 years ago and bought an acre in the middle of nowhere and built a small house and did the garden/chickens/goats thing for a while before getting back into the world somewhat (even got the internet....). Now I'm making a good chunk of our income playing guitar in bands!
Re: Irish bands... there's also the Cranberries, The Boomtown Rats, Horselips and loads of home-popular ones like The Stunning, Aslan and the Saw Doctors.
Van Morrison is Irish too.
Then there are the Corrs. Maybe not kosher with regards band 'street cred'...but they look nice. I'd prefer their drummer to the fat hairy ones I've had to play with.
And don't forget Westlife (although we all try to).
