Welcome to TGP! Your English is much better than my French so don't worry. You'll have fun here but it can be expensive. So will need to learn about GAS, which is gear acquisition syndrome. After looking at and reading about so much nice gear you will be lusting after much of it. At your age you should just keep lusting after girls and practice playing and everything will be fine.:)

Yeah i've already learned about GAS, sometimes we talk about that in France ;)
But yeah, i like to read reviews of nice nice gear like Fulltone pedals or whatever..
And yes, everything is doin' allright about girls and playing the guitar :D

Enchanté, Kalik! Je m'appelle Mike. I've never been to the Var area, but it seems wonderful. I'm hoping to return to Cassis for an artist residency sometime next year...we'll see if I get in.

So what type of live music is big in your area? Are there any good places to play for a singer/songwriter...or a full soulful, bluesy type band? I'd love to gig around if I get the residency, and I'd also like to bring out a band I do design work for, Soulajar.

Well, there is not so much people to play music with in Var/Provence. There is a lot of blues on rock'n'roll bands but they are like 30 or 40 most of the time.
I've been looking for a band for 4 years, then I found a great drummer and a nice bass player, so now we're keepin' dah Funk alive ! :D
There's also a lot of jazz bands (a friend of mine is a fabulous contrabass player), because there's a famous jazz school in Nice..

I already have musicians to play with, I'm just curious to know where to play. What venues? What towns? Which venues and towns are best for that type of music?

btw, have you ever been to a town a bit inland called Gémenos? I saw some photos of Parc de Saint-Pons and it looked beautiful. Worth visiting?

Salut, Kalik.

Oh yes, you can play jazz in St Tropez or Cannes, there are a lot of clubs and cafes for that. On the other hand there are a lot of rock bands in the Var, no matter where.
