This isn't the answer you're looking for I'm sure, but I use a Skreddy Screwdriver and a Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso into a Marshall (go figure right) and get a great Marshall tone. The point to this is that those two pedals almost out-Marshalls Marshall tone. Just my $.02.

Marshall Gov'nr (the first one). I think there is one for sale on the emporium.

+1 on the MI Audio Crunch Box.

Tone control range is very good and is interactive with the gain knob, plus there's a little trimmer knob inside that changes the character of the pedal to match up with single coils or humbuckers. I get a good old-school tone out of it, set it kinda dark and bump up the volume a bit... turns my Blues Jr. into a monster.
Peace, Matt

I recently picked up a used Carl Martin PlexiTone that sounds HUGE! Some would say it's more JCM800, but it sure has grown on me recently.
It has more bottom end than my other pedals, and good harmonic content. It also cleans up well using the guitar volume.

Now it's my most used distortion pedal (along with a Barber Burn Unit, Small Fry, Xotic BB Preamp, and Keeley modded TS-808 reussie).

Sorry, this really has nothing to do with this thread, but "The Lamb" really gave me a new idea about arranging my pedalboard. Of course, the BoR needs to go bottom left. Thanks!

Anyway, even with my limited Marshall knowledge, I do believe that the BoR do a good Marshall impersonation, since it sounds like nothing I've ever put into my Fender-voiced amps. I never thought I'd like distortion boxes, since I've mainly been looking aorund for drives that keeps the tone of my amps intact, but the BoR is just something else. Extremely touch responsive, fat bottom (to fat according some users, but I like this as an addition to my other drives), and never fizzy. But I'll have to test it a bit longer to find out what characters really live in this box.

having great luck with a
Menatone King of Britains

Does fantastic low gain to higher gain old-marshall. You can even set it bright and it doesn't sound fizzy/buzzy.

I've been using the BoR with my Soldano and getting very Marshall tones.

Try the Xotic BB Preamp. I think "BB" stands for "Bluesbreaker," and my humble ears think it has some pretty killer Marshall sounds.

and AC Preamp for AC30... still Neither the BB nor the AC do sound like a Marshall or a Vox, though they are great quality overdrive. For "Marshall in a box", it depends of the type of Marshall you want :
JTM45 : Menatone Workingman's Blues, Box Of Rock
Plexi : Menatone King Of the Britains
Plexi/JCM800 : Carl Martin Plexitone (kinda "in between" sound)
JCM800 :MI Audio CrunchBox, Tonebone Hot British

I really like the new version of the Menatone KOTB's for low/med gain Marshall like tones.

For $120, you can't go wrong with the Barber Direct Drive or the Crunch Box. The DD is slightly smoother and more versatile, the CB is full-on Marshall high gain. Both are great pedals.
