I have a back panel bias and I'd like to test pickups with it as well. Input on a brand name simple to use quality digital meter are appreciated.

You don't need anything fantastic for your applications. Any meter over $40 will suffice. Be sure that whatever you get is "auto ranging" as this is a convenient feature.
If you're looking for a high end meter that you'll never have to upgrade, Fluke is one of the names to be looking at. These will likely set you back $100+ but they're worth it....but they're not a requirement for the kind of work you'll be doing.

I love my Flukes!
I never spend money on a meter unless it will read 1000 volts. Though I need it to for my Job.
Sears has a good selection of meters.
It just bought one for $39 with auto ranging, caps, temp etc and took it to our metrology lab at work. It was dead on accurate.
I also tested the $3.00 Harbor Freight meter I keep in my trunk.
It too was dead on.
Go to Sears and buy this one. It'll do all you'll ever need for $40.00
You don't need to spend any more .

Got this one for 89$ at Radio Shack. Seems decent enough. Bob
