The tremolo on my early SFVR is barely perceptible. I can hear a slight ticking, but hardly any modulation regardless of speed and intensity settings. I've swapped several different 12AX7's in and out of V5 to no avail. Reverb works like a champ. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
You need a new "roach". Google.

For the most tremolo depth, get yourself a "Surf Bug". Google will pick it up for you. I find that these even make the amp sound better with the tremolo off due to lower insertion loss (higher off resistance of the opto).

Change the three disc caps in the tremolo section. These would be a .02, .01 and .01.

If you've already tried a different tube, I would then swap out the caps as suggested. They could be leaking. It will cost about $2.00 at your local electronics store. If that doesn't work, drop the money on a surf bug (http://www.tonecraftamprepair.com/html/surf_bug.html). I've used them and although not cheap (about $30.00) they work exceptionally well and provide a thick juicy trem.

Those caps control the oscillator, not the depth of the tremolo. If the trem is ticking, the caps are ok.

Thanks all. Is the roach/surf bug something that can be installed by a neophyte, or are we talking tech here?
