So, I've officially grown tired of trying to use Velcro to keep the pedals in place on my Pedaltrain pro...anybody got any bright ideas as to an alternative? Or has anybody done anything other than Velcro?

Cheers for the help.

Are you using industrial strength velcro?

I almost gave up on velcro...till I got this stuff. Available at Home Depot or WalMart in the Arts/Crafts section. They come in pre-cut sections, which fit Boss pedals and Barber pedals perfectly. In fact....I have issues getting my pedals off my board, rather than keeping them on.

probably wouldn't work on a Pedaltrain, made of aluminum...i didn't realize though, that the 'industrial' part of industrial velcro was the adhesive, not the velcro part. so, does it stick to the rubber bottoms of pedals?

Dude- the industrial velcro is nasty stuff. A couple of my pedals that use it have slid off the velcro, and now there is nasty sticky stuff all over the pedal and my board. I'm staying far away from that stuff from now on.

I've actually tried the mounty-p thing and the industrial velcro thing and gone back to regular velcro. My pedals just don't need that much to help them stay in place.

On my Pedal Train I use velcro + cable ties around the cable ends (or power leads) which anchors them nicely. If you double the ties (or get really long ones) you can also wrap them around power supplies.

Were you baking them in the oven?

+1. Was it the Velcro brand? I've never had an issue with the stuff. In fact, it's the only stuff that will stick to the rubber bottom of Boss pedals and not come off.

3M Dual Lock. That's stuff holds on and wont let go.

I've tried the velcro which came with my PT Pro and it was crap.

I then wen to zip ties and while they really held the pedals in place, they looked like hell and really did scratch up the finish on some (especially the Semaphore)...

(an early version...things have change here quite a bit)

I'm moving on to the 3M Dual Lock and a bottle of Goo Gone (just in case!!!)

No- the problem with the industrial strength velcro is that the hook & loops are stronger than the glue they use- which is also really strong. But if the pedal moves at all, the velcro will stay where it is and the pedal will slide off the velcro. And the sticky residue is really nasty. I have some pedals where it works fine, but others where it creates a sticky mess. And for those pedals where it does work, trying to get the pedal off the board is difficult without ripping the velcro off the pedal. Just my experience.

I vote for using regular velcro brand velcro- works fine for me. Of course, I don't have a pedaltrain so I don't know for sure. From what i've heard the 3m stuff works well, VERY strong grip.

Use 3M dual lock and if you are having problems with it sticking to the bottom of your pedals take the rubber pieces off and you will get a good flat metal base to stick the velcro to. I have 17 pedals on my board and can lift it up by grabbing any two pedals and shake it and the pedals stick just fine. I have a smaller board with hook and loop material that I've never had a problem with either, as long as you take the rubber base or feet off the pedals.

Should one expect that sticking velcro to a pedal will most likely damage the surface of your pedal? I just ordered one of those fancy swirly painted pedals and I'm concerned about damaging the finish. Another question, can the glue residue left behind after removing the velcro be easily cleaned off?
Thanks

That depends. My bjf sbeq's paint came off when I switch velcro, but not on any other. I have never had a swirly paint job pedal so I cant comment on how that will turn out. It just depends. In regards to the glue residue, goop off would work fine. Just test it on a corner before to see if it dulls/removes/ruins the clear coat on your pedals. It is only on the bottom of the pedal though, but I understand anyways... ;)
