What do you guys do with old tubes? Is there anyway to recycle them? I hate to just throw them in the trash. Isn't there some pretty nasty stuff inside? My box of spare tubes fell off its shelf, and some KT-88's hit the floor.

Some contain Mercury and should be disposed of properly as "E Waste". Our county has a monthly "E Waste" trash collection. That is where they should go.
I commend you on your thoughtfulness. We musicians should be mindful of proper disposal of old tubes, batteries, scrap solder and even the sponges we clean our soldering iron tips on.

Oh yeah, we have a county hazardous waste collection site that's open twice a month. They take paint, chemicals, TV's and stuff. I'll have to take them there next time they're open. Don't know why I didn't think of it in the first place. Thanks! Come to think of it I probably have a box full of old computer parts that could go as well.
