A few weeks ago I picked up a zoon h2 and I have to say it is great 200.00 investiment. This recording was made at a local jam session from the audience at a distance of about 20 feet from the stage.

The guitar part is my son Travis (~46 secs). The guitar is a F hole Mexican tele. I bet he would love to have that last note back :D

The setting I use are :

44.1kHz wave format
Limiter off
Level control (side) Low
I adjust the variable level for about 50% deflection. Any more than this and it sounds distorted to me.

I'd love to hear how the H2 does recording a full band playing at fairly loud volume. Please post a clip or two if you can.

It works fine doing that. The 4 on board mikes are very sensitive. In a lould situation, id place it at least 20 feet back from stage, turn recording level to low and use the on board. Placement is very important. In a club setting, it will pick up audience conversation well so you have to find the right type of venue to get a flawless recording in. All though it is possible

Good recording and i enjoyed hearing your son again.

Is this using the input Mic or another external mic?

Hi Greg, I liked that Tele as well. The guitar belonged to the guy who runs the jam and he wanted Travis to give it spin. Travis had his 335 there, but it sat idle for most of the night. He wants one of those Hollow body tele's, kids, there is no satisfying them :).

Travis has progressed a lot in the last year, he takes lessons from a local jazz pro and it is really starting to show.

I agree, I have been playing with levels and positioning the past few weeks. The level is very important on this unit and the mics placement has a great effect on the sound quality. This clip was done using the rear 120 degree mics.

I tried the 2 ch surround mode last week, but was not too pleased with the results. I also want to try a direct from sound board recording and see how that works out.
