why side jacks??

Because not everyone uses George L's. I prefer side jacks myself.

Although he appears to have TM it's apparently not in production any longer.
We're revamping the silk screen to make type larger and adjust a few things before the formal full-blown production starts. I'll check with my trademark attorney before we push "pedal to the meddle" ...lol.

Andy,

Will you have some of these pedals at the NAMM Show coming up?
I will be there, and hope to give them a try! :drool

I met you and your family a couple years ago at American Guitar
Boutique in St. Paul, MN. Was great to meet you all! (of course, American
Guitar is now American Guitar and Band in Maple Grove, MN now. A
GREAT store!)

Wrong address. Andy's address is: www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com (http://www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com)

www.fuchsaudio.com (http://www.fuchsaudio.com) belongs to Michael Lewis in Nashville. He's merely a Fuchs dealer.

Expect reasonable prices. I believe the tube driver will be around $ 279 or so. We're still finalizing the pricing.

Website should be up by NAMM time.

The circuitry is mostly unique. In the case of the Cream and Cream Extreme, they do somewhat give a nod to the tube screamer topology. After getting turned down or ignored by basically every so-called boutique pedal designer out there, I got pretty disheartened. I started out with a few of designs of my own, worked with a few outside consultants (some old friends from the audio field), one of whom designed our attenuator (that product is not dead yet), and another who designed the gain boost. It's nice to get a fresh perspective on how to accomplish things, from people outside the music field. The gain boost is a very unique circuit topology as a result.

When you mount the 9-V battery (in a clip along the bottom edge), it takes up some additional space. The 6V6 tube is there as a joke...:rotflmao

Yes, the interior might be a little roomy, but we standardized on two sized die-cast boxes to make most pedals in, for cost reasons. The Plushdrive and Tube Driver share a pc board, but with the tube in place, there's actually not much room left in there. You also have to allow for some tube heat as well.

They will have a 5 year warranty, but they will also be easily serviced, should they need it. I've seen quite a few pedals that looked like they were stepped on to make the insides fit. Not for me thanks.

A few of the future pedal designs will have two levels of pc boards in them, as does the Cream extreme.

why side jacks??

Board placement and other real estate concerns inside the box probably had something to do with it.

Hard to tell from the pix, but when viewed from above, how easy is it to determine knob settings? How 'bout on a dark stage?

Yes, Andy, he does make limited runs of the Tube Driver. In fact makes one with a bias pot (or no bias pot). I bought one about 2 years ago.

Honestly, I'm not liking the "look" of these pedals. Especially the knobs. Fuchs amps look so slick...these just don't compare.

Are these pedals modeled after the old Plush ones (in terms of appearance, layout, etc.)?

We were basically shooting for plain, simple, functional, perhaps a bit vintage with the glitter paint job. We've avoided the hippie paint jobs, nothing too crazy. Yes, we do plan larger a typeface for the knobs (still time to adjust it), and the knob types are always subject to future adjustment. The ones on we are using are pretty easily seen (white position marker/line) on stage imho. I set "by ear" mostly, but I can appreciate that.

We appreciate the feedback. Silly me, right now I'm more concerned they sound killer, are reliable, they sell, and are profitable...lol.

If these do as well as the initial signs indicate they will, there will be more pedals in the future, and suggestions will be taken into account. We've already gotten future product suggestions and ideas.

Tisk-tisk Barry. Ya went for the fist joke, I'm saddened ;) although not surprised.

Going on looks - they look suitable for my size 12s!
I hate pedals that only my 10 year old daughter can stomp on accurately......

I'll be ordering a Plush (the non - TS kind) asap. Looks like a winner, Andy.

Hey Barry!

Best, Pete.

Are these pedals suppose to sound like a Fuchs ODS amp ?

So if you have a good clean sound (Fender 6L6) and one of the Plush pedals youre in ODS overdrive heaven...?

Yeah, my thoughts exactly...

So, Andy, which pedal is a simulation of your ODS circuit?? :drool

Fuchsaudio

The pedals are all voiced unique to the different pedal models. None are actaully the ODS circuit verbatim, but the ODS/TDS was certainly used for comparisons throughout the design process. Depending on how you set them, the pedals work well through a clean amp as overdrive, and quite cool in addition to the amps overdrive as well.

The Creamer is a traditional tube screamer style circuit, with our own subtle circuit tweaks. Think SRV, think the earlier more raw ODS style (pre SLX) overdrive with some attitude to it. Phil Sayce has a sample Creamer and digs it a bunch.

The Plushdrive is likely the closest to the traditional warm, mid-driven D*mble/Fuchs/TR vein, when played though a decent Fender or similar 6L6 platform. ScottL posted a soundclip of the Plushdrive a few months ago that was really sweet. As I recall, he liked the tone and overall amplike feel at-least as much as the Zendrive, perhaps a bit more.

Matt, your friend Ken B heard the Plushdrive proto at the Boston show and was quite impressed. Maybe he can give you some objective first-hand feedback.

Happy holidays to all !

Don't get me wrong, they DO sound great! In that respect, they totally hold up to your amps. And I myself wouldn't avoid a piece of gear that doesn't look the way I want it to, even though it sounds great. Hopefully everyone else (or at least a good percentage) feels the same way - as these pedals are sure to please when they're released! :)

I have to ask...any chance you can get Philip Sayce to cut some clips of the pedals in action? :D:D:D

Fuchsaudio
12-31-2007, 12:32 PM
I dropped Phil a note to get a time line on the upcoming sessions he has in the new year. He often has to work within the schedule for Melissa Etheridge gigs.

I know his initial response to the Creamer was positive, and I do hope he uses it going forward. I'm sure when/if sound files can be sent, Phil would do so.

We have an alternate knob, which is a spun chrome insert and black plastic body, resembling the old Plush amp knobs, which we like as well. Knob changes are easy :)

As long as they sound good, the hardest part is past us.

We've added another pedal contest winner !

The gentleman who chose "Valve Job" will win a pedal shortly. After discussing this with my trademark attorney it made the most sense to avoid tube drive as well as tube driver going forward.

For those who participated (heck, who didn't...lol):

Plushdrive (D*mble style medium gain overdrive pedal)

Valve Job (tube version of above)

Cream (tube screamer inspired overdrive)

Extreme Cream (2-channel version of above)

Crem' de la Trem (vintage style tremolo)

Royal Plush (optical compressor)

Pure Gain (the quietest gain boost pedal on earth).
