View Full Version : Looking for a small amp
I am looking for used small 5-7 watt combo amp. I could spend no more than $450-500.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

carvin vintage 16. switchable 7 watts/15 watts. $400 new I think. Man, they sound pretty damn good, as long as you got them hooked up to a good cab.

What do you planning on using it for? That would probably help steer a lot of folks to offer some good suggestions.
BTW - it is a combo.

actually it is a combo, but I personally think the stock cab doesn't sound very good. If you pick one up used in the $300 range, you can rehouse it in a mojo cab and still break out pretty good.

The best low wattage amp I've owned or tried is a vintage '60s Silvertone 1481. I own a '65 BF VibroChamp, and have owned more than a few other low watters and the 1481 has smoked them all.
Great thing is, you can still find them easily and cheaply - usually well under $200.

That totally depends on what tones at what volumes you're looking to achieve.

I am planning to use this amp for practicing and recording in apartment.
I am looking for nice clean and "Tweed type" tones.
Thanks
