So I got this thing in Germany last year, turns out it was a hybrid.SS preamp ,Tube PI & 4x el34

The preamp had this cowling on it which was the perfect place to mount a filter cap and tube sockets ,with a terminal board underneath.I got it drilled ,sockets, cap & board mounted

Now Im actually trying to figure what kind of preamp to make.I certainly have the bassman / Marshall thing down, but I dont realy need a 100w + one of those .Im too loud with a Champ
The trannies are HUGE .I was thinkin of puttin 6550s in there if the tube bases will fit the socket spacing and using it for bass,
Any suggestions for a more bass friendly preamp?

Or an old Ampeg V-4B. Tricky finding/making the inductors for the mid-shift switching tho'. Too, although the power transformer looks huge, you'll want to find out what it will tolerate for filament current. This may limit your preamp choices based on the number of tube filaments you can safely drive (unless you mount an auxiliary filament transformer)
