I have an older mesa cab, the one with the metal grill, and 2 of the speakers got tears in them. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion as to which speakers might compliment the mesa black shadow speakers that are in the cab now. Anyone have experience with these cabs/speakers?

The typical match in those cabs would be a pair of EVM 12L (200 watt) speakers with a pair of MC-90's.
I have a couple of those cabs and in one the EVM's are in the closed bottom.
The other is all MC-90 (90 watt) speakers.
They all say Mesa Black Shadow on the magnet label though.

Great cabs and extremely well constructed.

Thanks
The cab I have is all Mc-90's. I was just wondering if any other speakers might sound good mixed in there.

MC90s are usually always 8 ohm, so you'll have to pair them up with something the same. I would try to find a couple of EV12Ls or maybe Eminence MS12s. :)

What's up guys...i'm new to the forum. I have this mesa cab (2 black shadows on top, 2 EVMs on the bottom). The guy I bought it from had also closed off the black shadows from teh back. I was wondering if there was any advantage in sound if I left the back open vs. closing the back?

I used to run a mesa dual rectifier through this cab, but I sold that and recently bought a Line 6 spider valve head, and am looking forward to hear how it's going to sound through the cab.
