Scope 'em out!

They sound a bit better than the other Soho clips I've heard. Not studio quality, but a fairly decent representation of the tone of the Soho in the room.

Details:
65Amps Soho head with matching 2x12 cab with Celestion Gold and Anniversary Series G12H30. Guitar is a Historic 59 Les Paul with Burstbuckers (2&3). Clean, then bumped, then with a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive. Attenuated with a THD Hotplate. Sorry about the crappy video quality & out of tune guitar (and the crap playing) - it's all about the tone in this clip though.

Comments are welcome!

Hmmm... tons of listens and not a single comment. Are they that bad? Or just no Soho fans?

Sounds good to me. I've played that Amp its a good one. This place can be like a Ghost town. Especially if you arent talking about a Dumble.

LOL - thanks, I was feeling lonely in here. :)

I appreciate the comment. I think the amp sounds great but has not been given a good demo - most of the clips I've heard were pretty poor, and not representative of the amp's potential.

Sounds good, John. You can't go wrong with anything from 65amps.

Thanks, the Soho sounded great, and even though they're not the same amp it reminded me a lot of my Marquee.

I thought it sounded great! Is that amp a 20watter?

Sounds good, I don't think you needed to put the qualifiers in about bad recording quality of playing. One thing though, when listening to amp clips I like to hear the amp itself without pedals in the mix. Just me I suppose, but I can run a pedal in front of anything if I want that sound. If I'm looking at the tone characteristics of an amp I don't want a pedal in there changing it. Though some people like to see how an amp responds to pedals, so it works for them. I'd rather see what the amp's OD qualities are though, rather than a pedal's.

Sounds great with that LP. I'm surprised at the cleans. Will you be doing any demos with single coils - a Tele perhaps?

Thanks - and true. This amp possesses something that my other amps don't have - a touch response/chime factor not present in the others. I highly recommend them.

Interesting - I have played theLondon and the Royal Albert but not the Marquee. I guess most of the Soho stuff has a somewhat similar voice though.

Yeah, it's the 20 watter. A LOUD 20 watter though!

Good job, always wanted to hear that amp.

Thanks! I have heard a 1/2-dozen clips, every one terrible. GuitarWorld.TV mangled a sample, PremierGuitar did a terrible one, even 65Amps recorded one that was less than representative. This amp deserves better - it smokes!

Great job! Thanks for the clips bro!

My pleasure ;)

There definitely is that quality to the amp's tone. It's as if every ounce of tone emanating from guitar is being translated thru the speaker, losing nothing in the process.

Thanks, I kind of agree. The amp takes pedals so damn well though that I wanted to demonstrate this. Admittedly, there should have been less pedal though and more of each of the other Bump settings.

The Tele and Strat samples are a great idea - this amp probably sound even better with those guitars! I'll work on it. :AOK

Sounds great!

Actually one of the better sounding clips I've heard of 65 stuff.
A lot out there don't really do 65 any justice, including the one from Peter.
They sound way better in person.

Hmm, I was very happy with my London but now your clip has me thinking about a SoHo...again!

Oh and nothing wrong with the playing.
Even then, its an amp demo.
I prefer the playing to be simple to showcase the amp and not a player.

How do you like the Gold in place of the Blue in the 65 cab?

Mine is in stock form with the Blue/G12H30 Anni. combo and I like it.
I'm thinking of using the Golds for 1x12 to handle more power as a single speaker.

Thanks, I agree. My clips aren't stellar, but somehow are better than the previous 65Amps clips which IMHO do these stellar amps no justice. Unfortunately, I would have thought Peter would have produced a pro-quality clip, esp. considering his stature/affiliation as a recording artist.

I have a difficult time answering that one - I don't have any experience with the Blue. I love the Gold in there even though I wish the cab had a slightly stronger mid. Seems slightly scooped, my guess is the Blue would be a little weaker on the bass and treble, resulting in a more pronounced midrange to complement the G12H30? I'm not sure! Though the current cab sounds pretty damn good anyway.
