I made the mistake of going to the D*A*M website and igniting a seriously bad case of GAS for another D*A*M pedal. I have the 1966 and was thinking about selling it to pay for an amp build but it kind of backfired.

Anyone have the Sonic Titan? If so, please share your thoughts. How about the Ram Head? Are these two pedals so different and unique that it would be worth the near $300 price tag and months of waiting? Or maybe I'm just asking the wrong people!

I used to have a Titan and currently have a Ram Head. The Titan has a lot of versatility. The knobs provide a wide variety of potential tones, from a nice overdrive to some serious distortion. Overall, I really liked it, but I had other pedals that nudged it out. Very nice pedal though.

The Ram Head is great! The best of Big Muff tone. Can't go wrong.

ST is one of my favorite dist/over-drives. It is very open and raw sounding. Not your typical "smooth" OD, although it can get that way if you dial it in. I am tempted to say that it has the touch responsiveness of some "dumble-esqe" type pedals, but with a Hiwatt kind of distortion tonality.

I like it alot because it has real low end punch, doesn't mush out and sounds super raw. It does have a bit of fizz in the high end like a fuzz, but that becomes a non-issue when you turn your amp up properly. Very dynamic pedal in the same way that a honey bee is.

Best to you

Are there similar pedals, boutique or non, that have similar feel and tone? It's just SO expensive and SO hard to get.

I'm not sure if he is still using dealers, but when he was, I found the dealers to be very helpful. If you get in touch, they will notify you when a new batch comes in. I've also seen several in the emporium over the last 6 months. If you want the Titan, the Titan can be had. :)

I owned the Titan for a short while. It was the only DAM pedal I didn't bond with - too grainy and trebly. I think DAM is using an overdriven LM386 chip (low power IC), and I guess I just didn't care for the character of the distortion in my rig (EL84 and EL34 amps, with Les Pauls).

Yeah the Sonic Titan is nice.
As duende said, pretty open and raw sounding, but turns down nicely too for some cool Bluesy tones.
Nice feel too.
