I have been surfing TGP for over a year, but just got an email address that I could use.

I am totally self-taught, been playing almost 25 years. Been in bands for about 23 of those.

Grew up on Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Deep Purple, Van Halen and all the 80's metal gods...

I aspire to a style that would be something like Jeff Beck jamming with the Hellecasters. (please wish me luck with that...)

I really focus on melodic phrasing and clean lines that stand out. I virtually never play a solo the same way twice, but I work very hard to compose some sense of direction in my improvs. (It doesn't always work out that way though....haha)

I play in a very aggressive, rock-oriented RedDirt country band in Oklahoma City, OK.

Owned hundreds of guitars and amps but rely on:

Tom Anderson Hollow Classic
Tom Anderson Hollow T
Tom Anderson Cobra
Fender CS Relic Nocaster
Taylor Koa K14C
Several imports that I freakin' love for their NOT lush-3-dimensional tone!!
They cut through so great live!!

Mesa Lone Stars (2)
Peavey Classic 50/212 (Love it!)
Digitech GSP1101 (LOVE it!)

Thanks,

Rock on

Welcome - from a fellow Okie. What's the name of the band? I'm currently working in Banana Seat.

I also used to play in a band called the Hillbilly Love Gods back in the 90's. I wasn't an original member, but played with them for a few years.

I am friends with all the guys at Granny's and work with Jeff Blount from Time Machine.

Also, I used your 19Sixty3 Boost for almost a year and LOVED it. I am not really using analog pedals right now, but I have complimented that pedal many times and think it's great and very unique.

Welcome buddaman71!

We used to do OKC quite a bit back in the early 80's in a band called Trix. Always had a blast in in OKC.

Tunes sound great on the Myspace link.. Enjoy the forum!

cool...OKC is pretty cool now...we have a downtown area called BrickTown that's been rebuilt...has a canal and a few blocks of clubs/restaurants/and a canal...

thanks...those are really budget bedroom 8trk digital box recordings

The guitar solo to This Time Around on the MySpace site is more like what my live style is like...the recording is just me noodling on through a POD in my bedroom...

thanks and take care,

jason

PS: I remember hearing of Trix...did you used to play at the Samurai??

Welcome from Tulsa!

Steve Pryor Band
Whirligig

EDIT: Just noticed you guys do "Used to Be" - I've known the guys who wrote that one for years, as well as the Rangers and the former Medicine Show guys. Played that tune a time or two myself. Red Dirt music - hell yeah!
