Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the .002 bypass cap boogie shunts it reverb drive tube with? It really doesnt effect the tone a whole lot, but it definately lowers the high frequency AC voltage across the primary of the reverb drive transformer. Is it just to keep spikes off the reverb transformer to keep it from shorting between windings?
If anyone knows for sure, i would like to be enlightened. I see some of the older higer gain fender amps do the same, just a different value. Ive seached the web and still no answer.
thanks,
Rob

I would think that's probably it. There's no point in sending high frequencies to the reverb tank anyway because it has an incredibly limited frequency response and no 'fidelity' whatever... which is why it sounds nice of course :).

I beleive the earlier Mark Reverb circuit had some problems with oscillation at higher settings while in the lead gain modes. Several "bandaids" have been placed on the circuit as the Mark stripes evolved to reduce oscillations and increase the usable reverb signal.
