noob question - connecting amp to cab

This is my first amp and cab bass setup...

I just bought an 8 ohm Mesa Powerhouse 4x10 cab and a Genz Benz GBE 750 head.

I have a question about hooking them up

Should I use the 1/4 inch speaker cable input or the other input (speakon?)

They'll both work but Speakons can handle higher current than a 1/4" plug and they won't pull out of the jack.

+1 on the speakon. They can't be accidentally pulled out either.

and speakon jacks clean themselves everytime you plug or unplug them. Id go with the speakon. Like others said it should make that much of a difference other than peace of mind.

There was just a thread on TB about a dude measuring the connectivity-

I am starting to see what many of you are saying about the contact area. I measured, in various ways (resistance, o-scope, mircrometer, etc.), the differences in contact area and conductivity between the speakon, 1/4", and bannana. Other than a very, very slight reduction in resistance on the bannana, the three produced the same amount of resistance over a 2watt, 50watt, 100watt, and 250watt 1000 square Hz signal. I now have proof (at least up to 250watts) than the contact area makes little or no difference. I can't believe I've never tried this test in the past! Don't let me work on your amp! :)

If you use the 1/4" jack, make sure you use a speaker cable, not just a regular guitar cord. May look similar, but have much different power handling ability.

Let me get this straight, a Genz Benz & Mesa is your FIRST bass rig?! Well, I can tell you I just got my GBE 1200 Monday and LOVE it! BTW, it's my understanding the 750 is just the little bro of my 1200 so it should only have speakon outputs anyway.
