I need assistance in identifying a semiconductor. It is from a ROAD 220 bass guitar amplifier. The part was mounted on the driver pair heatsink and, in circuit, it is wired across the PNP/NPN driver compliment from base to base. I'm really stumped because of the odd ID, and odd case style. I'm sure it is part of the thermal regulation of the output xistor bias. I'm unsure if it is either a transistor or a diode array.

Google has not turned up either a schematic for the amp or anything that remotely matches the markings on the part. One leg of the device is completely blow off. The drivers and output transistors were all shorted C-E.

Thanks!

Gary

Only thing I can suggest is rooting through a surplus electronics store. There used to be a bunch of em in Burbank and out the North end of Laurel Canyon, but its been a whole lotta years since I was in Lost Angeles, so things have most likely changed. Maybe try talking to a tech in shop that repairs vintage amplifiers...I know there's a number of those in SoCal. The Yellow pages is your friend on this one, that and persistent hunting, I think.

Thanks, Andrew. Most of those shops are gone but you bring back some memories. As a kid, I went to those places with my Dad. Olson Electronics, Ajax, Gulf Electronics, etc. I.T.C. in Northridge closed a year ago and Sandy's Electronics a couple years before that. The only place in the San Fernando Valley area I know of today is All Electronics.

I am the vintage amp tech in my area. (No jokes about my age, okay?!) Wish I could figure the part out. I don't know if it's NPN or PNP or the pinout. That puppy is history and reads open on all leads. The unusual circuit doesn't help, either.
