My dad's fraternity friend, Bill Oliver (who was also Shawn Lane's best friend, he's the guy on the right in the videos), was playing at a local bar, so we thought we'd drop by and see them play. Well, I happened to have my guitar in my dad's car, so they asked if I wanted to sit in. I was a little hesitant (I've really only played in front of my friends at school), but I accepted anyways.

I used my cheap blue Kramer through Bill's rig (Mesa Roadster and some pedals (I only used the BB Preamp)). I didn't have time to tweak any, so sorry for the bad tone, http://www.jemsite.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

We first played ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man" (my solos are around :30 and another one around 2:00 http://www.jemsite.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Then we jammed on SRV's "The Sky is Crying"

Just thought I'd share!

Nice job, Wade.

I wish I could do that when I was your age!

Nice playing. Still amazes me how many people think "The Sky is Crying" was written by SRV. The song was originally written by Elmore James. It was also covered by Albert King who was a HUGE influence on SRV...

I used to have one of those Kramer aluminum neck basses.

I do miss it.

Enjoyable sounds all around. That was your first time in front of that kind of audience? Excellent. You "play well with others" which can be just as important as good chops (which you have in spades). Stay out of trouble, you know, and you'll always be glad you started young. You're good now, you know that, but you'll get better and will likely surpass most of us in technical abilities.
As it is, you are better than most who play in that sort of venue. You will be able to make money playing guitar if you choose (but it's a great way just to express yourself and be creative). If you can get people to get up and dance, you'll always be in demand for those gigs and larger (and that can be a fun way to make some extra cash).
