Speakers for a Mark IV...? (C90 or V30?)

I picked up a Mark IV locally at a KILLER price. It's a short head in mint condition. :)

So, what speakers do you guys prefer for this amp?

I have a 2x12 cab right now, unloaded, and I'm thinking either V30 or Mesa C90?

Depends on how you like to run your mids. I used to be a HUGE C90 and EVM fan (specially when they are paired together), but as my tastes have changes, I like V30's more and more with my Mark amps.

It's really gonna be hard to say what you'll like, but I think the C90 is just too scooped for me. I think the V30's has a more "vintage" sound with a Mesa.

What is the cab your gonna be using - open or closed? Compact or oversized?

In my experience, Marks do much better with a closed 2x12. The best I've found is actually a Mesa horizontal Recto 2x12 with V30's. Absolutely slayed a THD 2x12 loaded with anything.

It's a closed back.

I'll be covering a lot of metal (ala Maiden), and from what I've read the V30s definitely seem like the way to go.

I've got the MK4 combo and I cant stand the C90 thats in it....I like it better thru about, uhmmm, well anything elselol.
