This will be the new CamelBack CB-2 which will retain the design features and character of the original CamelBack (a new additional model, not a replacement for) but with a more traditional horned body. Thoughts?

Sorta reminds me of a Burns. I dig.

Hi Boggs,
The upper horn is too thin and comes forward a bit too much, to my eye. If it were more like the lower horn that would be great. Also, I've tried to get used to your lower squarish control/jack area bout, but I can't seem to fall in love with it. I admire the originality, but it's not giving me that "drool factor".
It's the same story with shapes I design. Most people don't get far reaching design, or perhaps it's just that they have to see someone famous playing one before they'll consider them. I bet these guitars sound fantastic. Keep it up.

General consensus is to shorten the upper horn a bit. I don't want to get it to where it looks too much like an SG though... The bass in that configuration is really stunning in 3D though...

Just remember the old line about a camel being a horse that was designed by a committee. Trust your own instinct and remember that function is more important than sex appeal. (BTW, I like it).

+1
I find that when people critique my own guitar designs, the modifications they suggest will always end up making the guitar look just like a Strat, a Tele or a Les Paul.
I listen and then carry on regardless!

I hear you, gentlemen, and VERY much appreciate it! Note my comment about it not taking too much to start to resemble a Gibson SG... I think that is where the "traditionalists" are looking, actually! ;)

Hi Jim,
I disagree about function being more important. They should be equally served, the form and function. Unless you don't plan on selling any, that is.

Boggs, congra!!! I'm with Jim, follow you're instincts, theres no specific "way to do it" , what I see is someone following he's own steps and this is the most important! It's Impossible to make a model everybody will like, just do what you do and I guarantee you a lot of people will love it, your model is unique and that's harder to make, it's very easy to make another Gibson or Fender, but your own stuff, that's another thing, keep in you're idea an congra again!!

The, ah, "hindquarters" look a little like this:

... a guitar I made with my dad circa 1976. Sadly it's the first and last of its kind!

Thanks, Mike. I do appreciate it. I can keep all of the features and functions I have designed in and be very subtle about tweaking the design and still keep its unique identity too. You still have to build something that will make people want to buy it and with guitarists being so conservative in their design choice, it is a fine balance that is required to lure them to the dark side! :D
