I'm just wondering where people set that. I had it fairly high up but then tried it very low and really like that tone. I'm a low gain guy so that probably explains it.

Depends on what I'm trying to achieve. If I'm in the "clean" mode w/no Rhythm Clip pulled and I'm going for a cleaner tone - probably around 10-1 oclock. Dial it up from there if you need "more." Try this mode with the input gain high and the master high too - it's a nice surprise!

With the rhythm clip pulled and I'm going for a classic rock/crunchy tone - proably 1-3 oclock.

In the higher gain mode - Rhythm clip always off in this mode - it gets too thin with it pulled on - I like it around 10-2 oclock. This mode's "master" knob also adds more gain as it's turned up - not just volume - or at least that's what my ears hear.

Great amps for sure.

1 oclock for classic rock, 3 oclock for heavier stuff (Slash sounds, etc.). The more volume the less input gain you need on a jube.

I run it anywhere from 10oclock to all the way up. I run my 2553 into a 212 with 2 CL80's so they don't add much grit. Generally though about 2-3oclock, just depends. I find I mess more with the knobs on my silver jubilee than I do on my mesa mark IV...

Interesting - I own a Silver Jubilee (2555) and a Mesa MkIV as well. I don't mess with the knobs on the MkIV because there are too many of them for me to futz with on the fly at a gig, and I need my glasses to see them, AND too many of them work on more than one channel...

The Jubilee - 10 o'clock to about 2 o'clock covers classic rock and Velvet Revolver stuff, depending upon the guitar I'm using, more gain with my Strats and Teles, less with the humbucker equipped guitars. If I'm doing insane over-the-top stuff or psychedelia - crank it all the way up.

Yep. In my experience that comes from not being able to crank it. If your only using the MV on 4-5 your going to constantly be trying to dial out the treble and harshness that is there. These things don't come alive until the MV is over 6.

Yea about 4-5 is generally where I have the MV set, over that and my ears ring or I reach for the ear plugs. Good thing I don't have the 3dB louder 100Watt version. I am jamming with a new band this weekend and hopefully will get a chance to crank it a bit more.

Maybe I should look into an attenuator again. I will say the jubilee sounds better than other marshalls I have tried at lower volumes....
