After gathering dust for a few years, and after seeing Tower of Power last nite at the HOB-Cleveland, I drug out the HRD this AM and hooked them up to my pedals and Am Deluxe Strat. Now I see what I've been missing. I "retired" this amp after using a Line6 FlextoneII/Plus for a few years, then a LSC 1X12, then a DRRI, and a Goodsell 17. Excecpt for the Goodsell, the HRD just kills with a rich full tone. I've never used my pedals into this amp, as i had always used the OD channel, but my Barber BUEQ, into my Crunch Box, with a DD-6 sounded fantastic. I had re-tubed the HRD a few years ago with TAD6l6GCW's, and some JJ pre-amp tubes and re-biased, but it mainly just sat in the bedroom for an occasional tune learning session. But after playing around with it this AM, I'm hooked again. I keep trying to like the DRRI, and the weight and portability is nice, but the HRD smokes it in tone, as it should I guess. I may have to give up on the DRRI and put it on the block. BTW, Towrer's new guitar player was using a HRD 4X10 with what looked to be a 2TSB "54", or an Am. Deluxe, (I couldn't see the inlays very well), but his "clean" tone was to die for. So again I'm stoked for the HRD, and can't wait to "hual" it on on the next gig.

I used to have one (only sold it due to not gigging and moving) and really liked it. I gigged with it and it was reliable with great tone.
I often use them in stores as my go to amp to try new guitars. I would happily own one again. I much prefer the 4x10 to the 2x12.

yeah, the HRD 4x10 is a good reliable amp, if only using the clean channel w/ pedals for gain. (me no likes the gain channels @ all!) I use the HDR 4x10 as my #2 backline choice, only opted by a AC30CC w/ alnico Blues in the #1 slot. they're pretty consistent, reliable and mostly available when touring light in and out of the country. though, my Super 17 is the #1 choice when I'm local or travel w/ an amp! all the best. :BOUNCE

"u stopped using the fender in ordedr to use the line s....?" Yea, it was a pretty decent "swiss army knife" amp where you could get a lot of different tones with little fuss, but after getting back into tubes again, and with some "quality" pedals, I find I'm liking the warmth and expressive qualities of the valve amps. I never had any decent pedals to run into the HRD, but after hanging around TGP, I found some nice OD's to wake up the HRD. May try the OMEGA mod next!
