I did this to a bass many years ago and...

...picked this guitar up used for 300.00 and decided to try it again, I need to take new pics for close ups, in sunlight without flash, right. I painted the wood grain that I could see with acrylic...at least it is unique (in a good way?)

Looks cool but really hard to tell for sure being that the pics are FAR TOO FREAKIN SMALL lol, really though you need to get some bigger pics.

Very Cool and unique! Great Job...

I totally agree. I've never seen an LP like it. Definitely a head turner. :dude

It looks like an exotic wood of some sort. Cool!

Cool look, I like it :)

What do you mean by paint the grain? Like paint a picture / graphic, or is it grain filled with black paint?

...1st, sand the body smooth, then I like to use tung oil instead of stain, let dry, then take black paint and a tiny/fine paintbrush, and follow the darker grains, it does take a steady hand and some time. I think it was about 4 sittings and about 4 hours of paint time (I should be playing)
This particular wood grain was light and small, the bass I did had bigger grains/age rings, which is much easier.

...thanks for the comments:D

I think it needs black speed knobs to complete the job.

Glad there were larger pictures inserted. I would have to say in all honesty that your attempt at refinishing the Les Paul has totally--succeeded! I like it very much. Totally unique, and still within the realm of good taste.
