I just posted this question in the wrong forum! I asked a customer rep at AES: Who makes your Fender replacement OT's? I got an "I don't know" for a reply! Somebody on TGP must know! It has a number on it that looks like an EIA code (166XXXX), but doesn't wash with any list I've seen.
I'm new to the site and have to say this is an astonishing resource! Thanks for any help.

Maybe Schumaker or Pacific. It is NOT Heyboer or Mercury.

I spoke with CE's purchasing personnel and they will not give out their sources. They also have no clue of the makeup of their trannies (iron, interleave etc etc).

I heard a Rumor that they are made by Lenco, But there is no way to confirm that and of course rumors are generally based on well,, Rumors :stir

...rumors are also often based upon "...a grain of truth..."! but, unfortunately, have a totally inappropriate "amplification factor."

...or, as Shakespeare wrote: "...much ado 'bout nothing."

I've used lots of these AES Fender replacement transformers--- i don't know who makes them, either------i read on some post somewhere that they are made in the Chicago area----- i like them---- i put one, the OT, in my '64 Blonde Transitional Bandmaster AA763 until i could get the blown orig OT rewound---- after i listened to the AES OT i put the orig in a plastic bag to save it for possible future re-sale with the amp.
I wish they offered a @4k primary imp 50 watt OT with 4/8/16 secondary taps---- looks like i'll be calling Heyboer soon..................gldtp99
