Dude, you MUST stop getting new guitars - you are giving me serious GAS! (Or at least bring it over to my house with the Jet when it arrives.)

Tonerider: My bad... I sent them to Nick to put in the tele... Had to dirty them up a bit... But hey...doesnt affect the sound. :)
Forestryguy: Well, not like a normal Rocketfire, as these arent Nicks pickups. But let me tell you, I am super pleased with every Tonerider set Ive ever had. I am amazed at the tones of these scatterwound pickups and I cant believe how reasonably priced they are! If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive upgrade, I'd put Toneriders heads above ANYONE in their price range! Ralph (RJHALSEY) is a great friend and always knows exactly what Im looking for. Thats a PAF style AC4 neck... Great classic rock tones!!! Very warm and woody, not harsh. And the Vintage Plus in the bridge is exactly what I a tele should sound like. Cuts through the mix beautifully! Long answer, but I really believe in Tonerider pups.
What amazes me is how resonant and dry Nicks bodies are....GUITAR bodies. haha. Sorry, but it sounded weird when I read it back. And how tight the body/neck fit are. Anyways, Nicks a super builder and Im so stoked!!!!

Love the back of that neck -- seems to be one of the most difficult parts of getting a relic right.
Sweet guitar!

Sweet guitar!
I too like the treatment on the back of the neck. It looks real, and I hope it feels great. However, the fretboard on this guitar and all Rocketfires I've seen pics of just don't look authentic---to me. I had a (laquer) maple board Tele I played for 18 years in sweaty dives (and I bought it used) and it did not look like that. Also, the bridge plate has an odd discoloration. It look kinda cool, but that is not what a funky old bridge looks like after years of use.

Well, I played this guitar for a bit last night and I must say it plays and feels great! The neck in particular has that authentic vintage feel - really comfortable. Sounds really good too. Change the bridge plate to a Barden style and I could easily see owning one. Congrats again Cody!

A great guitar I'm sure but as a relic it doesn't do it for me.
Fretboard not very well made and the bridge plate is overly
done. Never have I seen an original Broadcaster/Nocaster/Telecaster
with a completely rusted bridge like that.
Less is often more.......

Hey guys- I should clarify. Not all Nicks relics are THIS reliced. He knows how I like my guitars. I am a very OVER THE TOP relic lover, the John Mayer relic being one of my favorites. Its definitely a caricature of a relic (Mayers).... I love the extreme look. So yes, it IS a tad extreme, but thats how I wanted it. It far surpassed the guitar in my head. I LOVE IT!!!!;)
Thanks Dylan... Gearfest '08 was great! Lookin forward to next months. The dual pedalboards were insane. Ahhh...."the life and times.......":drink
