I've got a Peavey Valveking 112 with about five hours on it. (Bought new in November, but it's a wee bit loud for the 'practice amp' duty it is assigned.)

Just now, plugged in, played a chord and the sound all but ceased. Fiddling with different guitars and cables, this is what I discovered:

Clean channel-nothing regardless of setting.
Gain channel-with very high gain, I get a quiet, clean sound.

Both 6L6s are glowing happily, for what that's worth.

I'm hoping I just popped a preamp tube; if so, any ideas which one to start with?

I really appreciate any help.

Larry

Take it back to the store and get something else that suits your needs better.

Wel try swapping one out at a time. I suspect the V1 or V3 though if any. However it doesnt really matter as it will only take 3 tries to see if its any one of them. Any 12AX7 will do so dont worry about a "balanced" PI tube. Bob

Are all of the tubes glowing? I seem to recall some of the new Peaveys have 24v heater supplies and various series heater wiring schemes.
