Hey there Fellas and ladies;

I use a rockman midi octopus to switch my head channels, and it's worked with a 5150 and a DSL 100. I just got a Legacy combo and while it too uses a stereo plug the octopus doesn't seem to be making the switch work (seems that both channels light up partially when I kick it in, but no channel change). Anyone have something similar? I'm thinking I will need to make up a new cable and split it out of the Octopus but if someone has run into this it would be a great help.

The legacy uses momentary switching, if your octopus is latching that may happen.

No the Legacy does NOT use momentary switching, it is the only V-3 and the old Quad X that use momentary.
That is wierd as I allways used the same footswitches for my Marshalls with most of the Carvins I have used. First off the Carvins will only switch channels with a remote switch with the switch on the front of the amp in one position. If the switch is in the wrong position it will do exactly what you are describing. If that is not the problem it sounds to me like the Legacy may have a dirty footswitch jack or something is not making full connection in the system from your octopus to the amp. Clean the jack first then check your cables. Check the switching in the Legacy with a standard footswitch to see if the problem is in the actual amp or somewhere else.
That set up should work fine with your Legacy.
