Can somebody technically minded help a noob out?:Spank

Ive opened up the chassis and it looks like the power transformer is bulging and a bit "melted".. so Im guessing its short circuiting,

How do I check this to make sure? Ive done this before on another DSL and I knoe that theyre notorious for transformer failure but cant remember the procedure?

The amp has barely been played since new a few years ago.

Thanks guys.

Have you tried the simple stuff first like pulling the tubes and seeing if the fuse still blows to tell if perhaps your a bit more lucky and have a bad power tube? Bob

If you are comfortable inside the amp..disconnect the high voltage secondary leads in the A.C. mains transformer that go to the rectifier..Make sure they are away from the chassis..Power up the amp and see if it blows the fuse. If not measure the leads to see what kind of high voltage you have.
If that sounds a bit scary.. I would have someone look for you.Danger ..lots of potential for heavy shocks!!:FM
