hi
In the past I'd done this with my SD CustomCustom bridge in my Strat,

And now have done it with my Les Paul, SD Alnico Pro II in the bridge.
Since I always have the Tone on 10,,, would I /should I benefit somehow from connecting the tone pot back in?

Also, the pot-to-pot ground wire is cut , now too short. How do I know what type of wire to buy and where ?
Thanks alot

Adding the tone pot to the circuit will add slight resistance since tone pots add resistance even when they're on 10 (unless you're using "no-load" tone pots which remove themselves from the circuit when they're on 10). Tonally, the pickups will sound slightly darker when you add the tone pots back in the circuit.

You can get the appropriate cloth wire from RS Guitar Works or Acme Guitar Works.

It also bears mentioning that if your volume & tone pots don't measure 500k or a little more, the tone will be darker and usually the taper will be inconsistent. There's no rule about whether 500k or 250k is right or wrong, but if the pots don't measure what they're supposed to, the odds are they are of lower quality and that affects both the tone of the guitar and the volume/tone taper.

Alan, if you like the sound you've got now and it's not to brittle, then I think the pot would be put to better use as a spin-a-split if you have 4-wire pickups.

Also, if you do put the tone control back, you can put a 500K resistor between it and ground, and then it will go from 10 to 20, not 0 to 10. ;)

Excellent thank you. The test will be live/loud rehearsal this weekend.
I expect that since my Rio Grand BBQ Alnico V has been working alright this way, that this ALnico II will be just fine. (I don't know if its old age but Ceramic and even Alinico V grate on my nerves!)
