Was the original TC Electronics SCF analog and new one is digital?

Sorry, I tried running a search and the search engine won't let me run a search with "words" less than 4 letters. It cancels my search if I type in TC or SCF or even MXR :NUTS

So the guitar teacher and the amp repair guy at my store were talking about how the original SCF sounds better and one of them was wondering if the original all black version was analog and the new one has digital chorus?

The old one was most definately all Analog. They used to advertise it as such....and when it first came out digital chorus was still a thing of the future.

I wish I still had my orginal one..........

The TC website says nothing about this pedal being analog. i would think they would really hype that up if it was.

The T.C. SCF is an analog chorus. Just because it's full frequency and shimmering people tend to think its digital; it's not! They don't need to hype it up as analog because the T.C. chorus was an industry standard way before the 'boutique pedals' market, let alone digital chorus pedals, even existed.

As far as the older ones vs. the newer ones...Eric Johnson used to use an older one but now he has a newer one (w/purple stripe) on his board; and he's guitar gear OCD personified. There can't be that much of a difference, if any...

I've seen both the new and old TC chorus on Eric Johnson's pedalboard over the years. I'd be curious to a/b them myself. I've always loved the sound he gets with his TC SCF + EchoPlex + two blackface Fenders. Easily one of the best clean tones in the history of groovy clean tones!

There was some speculation because the Manual on the new ones identifies them as 'Class B digital devices' apparently.
