Light weight tail piece worth the bother tone-wise on a 335?? Is the bridge really that much better than a Nashville?

No and no. If it has a standard tailpiece and Nashville bridge, I say stick with what's no there.

the lightweight tailpiece might be cool, and it would go right on, while the abr-1 would require a bit of hammering and sawing for minimal sonic difference.

500k pots would be a far more significant improvement.

actually, these guys http://www.cvgshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=52 have an ABR bridge that drops right onto Nashville studs with zero mods. I put one of these and the tone lock lightweight tailpiece (which locks the TP tightly on the studs) on my 335 and there's a definite improvement. Woodier, fuller tone, better articulation; I love the difference. Top quality German-made stuff.

Done the pots, and yes, big improvement. I'll sleep on the bridge thang.

Yes to the aluminium stop ,no to the ABR1, other than it allows you to set the stop tail piece lower without the strings fouling on the body of the tunamatic.

I top-wrap mine, and don't have any clearance problems with my Nashville. Would the locking TP be a better tone improvement than the aluminum I wonder??

the faber locking tailpiece is aluminum, it just locks on ss studs.

the tonepros steel locking studs added some liveliness to my 02 58 paul, which already had the lightweight tailpiece.

I'll see your steel and raise you one titanium. :D

Haven't tried this one though.

what we need is a steel or titanium bridge! the stock zinc ones always seem to sink down in the middle. hammering gibson bridges back up to straightness is a routine part of my gibson set ups, and that's just disappointing.

aluminium tailpiece is a must on any guitar that can take one. real sonic improvement

at the risk of sounding like a paid endorser, you really should take a look at these Faber bridges. it's precision stuff and you can get them in several different finishes and metal configs -- including titanium. I bought aluminum, but I love it.

"Bridge frame is highest quality Japanese manufacture." (http://cvgshop.com/Faber-Parts-ABR-%2759-Bridges/c4_21/index.html?osCsid=b304db048797b0a41ca7c7ed52b7b8e5 )
i meant the actual bridge itself, not the saddles.
pigtail apparently makes an aluminum abr bridge, but i have no idea how it compares strength-wise to the stock pot metal.
