Looks like the pots in question are made by Centralab(134) made in 1984(84) in the month of August (30 th week). I believe they were made in the U.S.

Thank you so much Douglas!

Now...Would a plain 500K (no A) mean linnear?

I know some manufacturers use a code to designate audio or linear taper and or right or left. I'm sure someone can answer that for you. In the mean time you can use an ohm -meter(preferably analog) with one lead on the center lug and the other lead on the lug that would go to ground. As you rotate the pot shaft you will either see a steady swing in needle movement(liner) or a quick rise at the low end of the pot sweep(audio) taper. The pot should be out of circuit to check this accurately.

or, if you have a digital meter, setting the pot exactly halfway will give you about half (250k) if it's a linear taper, vs. a lot more on one side and a lot less on the other if it's audio taper.
