Hard to put my finger on what's wrong with this track, seeing as my initial though is...well...everything. I had no idea where I was going with this when I started messing around with it, and as you'll see my situation hasn't improved. Hence the title. As usual, all criticisms are welcome, and I apologize in advance for the handful of bends that never quite make their intended note.

It's because it starts 2/3 of the way through the song! :)
The starting bit is how you come out of the section just past the solo culminating in the big harmony guitar part afterwards (bring up the harmony guitars by the way!). But the harmony guitar part should also be the first 2 verses before the weird beginning bit.
Sez me, YMMV, IMHO, TLA, etc.
You really are the master of power pop!

Man, I love this, jeff!
Nice Drums, really heavy guitar on the intro!!!! Spectacular, really.
D-O-C needs to do lyrics for this.
Oh, did I say I loved all the guitar??????
Listen to this track, people, it's good. Like an evening together with Dina and James............
Best, Pete.

Thanks a bunch, everyone! Yeah, huge fan of Brian May...Boston and Thin Lizzy too. Pretty much explains the harmonized guitars.

I tried to make something wrong with it but I couldn't. Good groove, good guitar tones, playing is very good and I like the way it goes from heavier to poppier. Cool stuff, Jeff.

Not wrong per se, but it kinda sounds like a mashing of the '60s and '80s. Like Def Leppard covering Badfinger. Bad Leppard, or Def Finger, I dunno. Is it from the '140s? I still think it's cool.

I really enjoyed it.
It sounds like you've got fatigue. Your too close to to the track, and it's not matching whatever mental picture you have for it. To someone who's never heard it before and dosn't have that picture, it sounds great.
Can't tell you the amount of times I've re-visited something I binned cause it wasn't working and heard it with new ears...........

Nice stuff man, I agree with the others here, sometimes YOU can't hear how cool a track is, happens to me all the time, other people dig a tune I think needs work.
Boston and Brian May called...:D
Cool track man, I like.

I liked the chromatic groan before the awesome solo. Hansoloist is the coolest username I've seen here yet.

Thanks a bunch for all the comments, guys! I'm starting to enjoy this track more and more--I even have ideas for a vocal melody and lyrics for this one and that is a rare thing for me!

First impressions:
The intro part sounds like it's winding up to something like S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y, Hey!
Then, the bridge comes in with really nice 'wall-of-sound' single note harmony guitar parts.
Then the verse starts with a nice, albeit overly busy rhythm groove.
Honestly, I think you have 3 of the 4 pieces/parts to a cool song there. Most notably missing is VOCALS!!!
Keep at it. It shows promise.
