Rob, my bass player recently bought a wonderful old Marshall Dynamic Bass System stack - DBS7400 head, plus the matching (and huge!) 4x12 and (very neat) 2x10 cabs.

He wants to use the 2x10 on its own for small gigs, but finds the 200w Eminences in there at the moment aren't man enough for the job - used with the other cab, they're fine, but on their own, they tend to fart and rattle just too much to be comfortable.

What we need is your suggestions for replacement drivers available in the UK which will do the job.

I don't know this first hand, but I've heard it said you need to choose the speakers for your bass enclosure with the parameters and sizes, and porting and everything in mind. So it's not just a matter of throwing a 22w Fane in where a 25w Celestion used to be. Things like physical depth of the cab, porting, internal volume all are much more significant when you're moving as much air as a pair of 10s with 500w going through them...

I would be hesitant to change the drivers so quickly since that will fundamentally change the tone/feel of the cabinet. If volume is the problem (assuming you like the tone), then the solution is to add more speakers. Also remember that speakers with really high power ratings will have lower sensitivity ratings, which means they will sound "stiff" unless you power them properly and play them loud. I suggest trying out a 2x12 cabinet for standalone work (aguilar, bergantino, etc). Lots of power handling, fuller tone than 10's but more responsive than 15's, and no farting or rattling to worry about.

+1 to all this, but the eminence delta 10" makes for a strong, yet sensitive (like the brawny towel guy) 350w bass speaker.
