I have used so many different slides in my life. I hated them all. Noisey, scarring up the side of the guitar neck, heavy, too big or small. That is over now, ladies and gentlemen!!! This slide is light as a feather. Very comfortable. GREAT warm tone. None of that clanking, banging noise that metal or glass slides make. And they won't break when you drop them!Made of the same wonderfull material as the V-Pick Guitar Picks. I am impressed and fascinated with this material. There are about 8 different cast acrylics made. I have gone thru them and chose this one because of it's durablility, gliding action, tone and easy grip.
I believe this is the best guitar slide on the market. AND, if you get into a bar fight, they make a great knuckle sammich without cutting your hand!
Just kidding......

Thank you gentlemen! Gabriel and I played with them last night and the outshined the glass and brass slides by a mile! So much lighter too.

I have another gismo in the works for slide players also. Something I learned from Gary Rossington back in the 70's. Stay tuned......

Interesting ... I'll have to grab one as I've been playing a lot more slide of late. My only comment: I've used some pretty light slides, and, past a certain point, it seems one needs enough mass for good solid intonation, as well as tone production. I don't doubt that you've got the tone bit sorted, but I'll be curious to see how the mass is.

Got mine today and preliminary tests indicate that it kills! Warm (gives you a little more flexibility on the tone knob because it attenuates some of the ice picks naturally) but not muddy, and the weight is a bonus since it would make it easier for heavy handed players to play on lighter setup guitars if they so desire.

I'll be cranking it this afternoon, more as it develops.

Holy cow! Now that's service! I'll take you up on that offer as I doubt any other slide maker will give the same deal. My favorite slide is my Joe Perry Boneyard and it's exactly 2". I just ordered four picks from you including a premium one so I'll have to time it so that my wife doesn't demand shoes or something.

Vinnie, I got my slides and Screamers today. Thanks. The slide is wonderful. To be honest I ordered it because I was curious and really didn't think a plastic slide would work. Happy to admit I was wrong as it has a nice solid tone and much less string noise than metal or glass. :bowThe Screamers are going to take a little getting used to, I'm so damn used to the medium rounded's and these are a different animal:D

I was just a wee tad doubtful about a plastic slide (yeah, I know Vinni, acrylic and plastic are different), despite the fun I used to have playing slide with Bic lighters. But these aren't at all soft or dead sounding - they just sound like you've turned your tone knob back a click or two, which is a good thing to begin with. They stick to your finger like V-Picks do, don't get slippery as your hands sweat. So far they don't seem to get cut up by the strings, which was a concern when I ordered my first.

I've got a light touch and am fairly careful with the slide, but until I played a V-Slide I didn't realized how often I did hit the side of the neck with my glass or stainless slides - that sound is annoying, but so much a fact of life I almost didn't notice it until it went away with the V-Slide.

So bottom line, I'm a fan. I use mine (just ordered some backups, very fast turnaround from Vinni) on standard tuned, standard set up electric guitar. For heavier strung instruments (Fender Bass VI... :) or acoustic I actually want a little more weight so I'll probably continue with the glass, but for electric (for me) these are the Pschitt. Nice job, V! :p

I just got an order from Vinnie, including a couple Screamers and slides. Love the Screamer, it really "pops" the tone and is real controllable. A co-worker immediately made me sell her a Screamer and a Freakishly Large (my usual). No I have to get another re-order together! The slide is great, too. I thought the lightness would be weird because I usually use the biggest, heaviest glass slide I can find. No problem. No clanking about, more controllability, good on acoustic and electric, a bit softer-sounding than glass, but no problem, and a "sizzle" sound I haven't spent enough time with it to get a better description down. He threw in a cool glow-in-the-dark pick too. Harder to lose!

I'm getting a lot of feedback from the slides now. They are quite popular. They are really starting to fly out the door now. I threw one down in the music store the other day and it bounced and bounced and then I picked it up and the store owner could not find one scratch on it! Amazing. Try doing that with a glass slide......

I had bought a punch of different picks from Vinni, to find a size that worked for me. I sent the excess to Vinni for an exchange, for a slide and large rounded :drink

Well, Vinni was very generous with the number of picks for the exchange. As for the slide, damn nice. Sounds better than I expected. My normal slide is ceramic, I still like the tone of the ceramic a little better, but not much. The V-slide is very comfortable and because it is so light, very easy to hold out of the way while fingering chords. Ease of playing is way higher, and since it will survive WWWIII, I can see leaving my ceramic at home. Nice work Vinni. What next, V-capo, V-bow?

cvansickle
06-03-2008, 03:28 PM
Hmmm... good to know that exchanges are possible.

As for the slides, I ordered one each of both sizes. I play slide with my middle finger, so I though the large size would be for me. Well, it's a little too large. So then I bought the smaller size. It's a little too small for my middle finger...

HOWEVER, it fits perfectly on my ring finger and it's easy for me to play slide that way now. I could never handle a slide on the ring finger before, but thanks to the light weight of the V-Pick slide, no problem! And the tone is every bit as good as glass to my ears.

I got my slides from Vinny a week or so ago and must report back that they are great, just great. I different feel to an ol' glass slide, but what I truly appreciated was the weight and the ruggedness! I tend to jump from slide to fingers mid song and the ability to literally throw this off my hand to the ground and carry on with a quick finger portion of a solo was awesome. No more fumbing around for a slide holder to rest a pricey glass bottle on for fear of crushing. The tone is smooth as I've found with glass, my only note is that if your strings are rusty, the plastic will tend to replicate those bumps moreso than a glass slide. But if I used a V-Slide on my guitar that is solely for slide and always has clean, slick piano wire strings, these slides were awesome. Very well made, great customer service and quick delivery.

my "muddy" slide is IT! it's easily my goto slide, now. with slides, though, the more textures the merrier, because the materials used all sound different. and that's a good thing. but this one adds more articulation while fattening your tone (VERY noticeably, too!). it really grabs the main event and cuts out the clutter, so if you're barreling up broadway with a melody or line, it put's it out & above a band or track. you CAN get the extraneous stuff with it, too, but it really lets you add a lot more definition to the main event. beck REALLY has to try one of these, particularly the muddy version because he's my inspiration for having vinni make it for me in the 1st place.

so, short answer? YES!!!! don't you DARE stop makin' 'em! they're just too bloody good!

Hey everyone. Vinni here again.

We now have a lazer machine and you can order your V-Slide with your name engraved on it. The extra cost is $10. So the total would be $20 + S/H charge.

I have done a few and they do look cool. What I have been doing is put the brand name at the bottom and the artist's name at the top. The engraving goes around the pick so it does not interfere with your playing and tone.

Thank you everyone for playing our slides and picks.

Vinni
