Cabinet rear panels: Clearance for tolex??

Hey folks,

In building an open backed combo cabinet, say the inside diameter is 20".

But, the cabinet and the panel will be covered in tolex.

What dimension should I cut the panels to to allow clearance for the tolex?

Double the tolex for each gap. Usually between 1/16 and 1/8 of an inch clearance.

Thickness of the tolex X 4 + 1 hair. I would cut at 19 and 7/8" myself. That would make them tight.
