Hey Roadeye,

I'm down in Virginia now, but was born and raised in lovely Agawam, MA. I used to ride my bike into Springfield to look in pawn shops for guitars and amps. I went to Cathedral HS in Springfield and worked at WGBY. I know the area well! Welcome!

A big Hello and welcome from Leominster, MA...

Hey Ben C. -

I went to Fitchburg State. My wife, who also went there, had an apartment in Leominster. I did a cable tv show spinning records there called "Friday Night Rocks" in the early 80's. I still have some 3/4" U-Matic videos of that show.. Anyway, welcome!

Cool! I'm an old fart, so I was probably before your time. I was there in '74 and '75. My girlfriend lived in 16 acres.

There was a great bakery near Cathedral, right? I can't remember the name...

Sorry for the thread hijack, Roadeye. Where in Agawam are you? I grew up right near Phelps School on Main Street... Lealand Avenue..

Yeah! Gus and Pauls! Uh, your sister lives on Lealand Ave? This IS a small world. That's not that big a street! I went all 6 grades at Phelps. Amazing.

I totally missed this post!!
Cool - FSC has been totally overhauled and is almost a respectable place now ;) ... I work in the area and drive through the campus occasionally. WOW - Friday Night Rocks - I remember watching that at a friend's house!

Yeah, Fitchburg State is growing up. I used to live in a house on North Street, just south of campus. I went by there about 4 years ago to check the area out. The house was gone, replaced by expansion of the campus and some new facilities. If the people in those buildings had any idea of the kind of perversions that took place on that very spot. Back in my day, there were 7 girls for every guy enrolled at that school. Probably similar now due to the types of programs offered. I enjoyed my time there and struggled to find ways of extending my studies! :rotflmao

I can't believe you watched Friday Night Rocks! I'm sorry... My friend Dan and I used that show as another way to meet girls. I guess there was a trend to my priorities at the time.

Cheers! We (from Agawam) used to ride our bikes over to Longmeadow to see how all the rich people live. :drool We'd also go there to go to the Hu Ke Lau. Nice little traditional new england town. Welcome!

Haha...unfortunately I wasn't one of the "rich people"...and I'm still not :(

My brother was in town a while back, so I drove up and we drank all night at the Hu Ke Lau bar. Not the classiest joint, but the food was good and the Scorpian bowls are deadly.

Welcome, Roadeye. Sorry you couldn't make the Joe Bonamassa show at Toad's in New Haven earlier this week.

Hope you get out regularly to the Iron Horse in Northampton. Some great shows, in many styles, are to be had there. Recent guitar-oriented ones I checked out include Coco Montoya, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Southern Culture on the Skids, Bill Frisell, and a couple I could not get to were Ronnie Earl, and Bill Kirchen. I saw many great shows there in the past few years of other genres, too, and highly recommend the place!
